Basmati 1121 is a hybrid variety of basmati rice created by backcrossing traditional varieties such as Basmati 370 and Type 3. Developed by Indian Agricultural Research Institute, it is the longest ever known rice in the world. It is commercialized in 2003 and within a decade, it has captured almost three-fourth of total export market. This hybrid basmati rice is grown in Haryana, Punjab & Uttar Pradesh region of India. Extra-long slender grains with exceptional elongation ratio, pleasant aroma, tempting taste of 1121 set new standards in the basmati market. There are four varieties of 1121 Basmati rice – Raw, Parboiled, Steam, Golden Parboiled rice.
