PUSA BASMATI

Pusa Basmati is the second-generation basmati rice grown in the Indo-Gangetic plains beneath Himalayas. Unlike traditional basmati, Pusa Basmati is developed through research in IARI, Pusa in early 1990’s. Pusa basmati gave better yield on the same land than traditional basmati, thus helping to cater the ever-increasing demand. Longer but thinner grains of Pusa variety revolutionized rice market and gain popularity across nations. Over the years, production and demand for this variety is still increasing.
